Wine Dinner Blog #2
Dinner
As an appetizer I had some left over wings from bdubs. My main course was rice and broccoli with some homemade grilled chicken. To top things off I had a fruity dessert that consisted of strawberries, blueberries, bananas, oats, and yogurt.
Wine 1: Clos du BOIS Pinot Noir
Variety: Pinot Noir
Region: California
Country: United States
Year: 2019
Price: $11.99
Label description: Ruby red in color, this Pinot Noir displays aromas of black cherry with hints of dried violets and sage. In the mouth, rich flavors of black cherry and cranberry are balanced with a light toasty oak.
My review of this wine on its own: Really bold in color. Dry and on the acidic side. Had a lot of earthy, oaky flavors as well as a tinge of chocolate.
Wine 2: Martini&Rossi Asti Sparking Wine
Variety: Sparkling Wine
Region: Pediment
Country: Italy
Year: Not provided
Price: $12.99
Label description: Martini & Rossi Asti is a fruity sparkling wine made from the finest 'Moscato Bianco' grapes grown in the heart of the prestigious Italian D.O.C.G. area. Top quality ripe grapes from a single variety are fermented once only. The fermentation is stopped at two thirds of its natural sugar potential.
My review of this wine on its own: Really light non-acidic wine! Tasted apples, honey and a tinge of citrus flavors like oranges and lime.
Wine 3: Carlo Rossi Watermelon Sangira
Variety: Sangira
Region: California
Country: United States
Year: Not provided
Price: $8.99
Label description: This sweet and fruity pink wine Sangria is a delicious blend of Sangria wine with strong flavors of watermelon. We love pairing it with fresh berries, fall desserts, and summer salads.
My review of this wine on its own: The Sangira was sweet but not overly sweet! When I first opened it, I got a really strong blueberry flavor. The actual taste had citrus and grapefruit flavors.
- I taught the Pinot Noir went really well with the chicken and broccoli.
- The Sangira paired very nicely with the fruity dessert. The sweetness of the Sangria was ideal in completing the citrus/sweetness of the dessert and added flavors to it.
- The Martini&Rossi was best when combined with the wings.
