Tasting - Schmitt Sohne Riesling

Name:   Schmitt Sohne Riesling    Variety:  Riesling Region: Longuich   Country:  Germany Year:  2019 Price:  $9.99 Winery Review:  Schmitt Sohne Family Wines Rieslings are everything that great German Rieslings are supposed to be: richly fragrant, light-to medium bodied, with a lively, fruity acidity and earthy minerality. They’re the kind of easy drinking, go-with-anything wines that only dedicated vintners, steeped in centuries-long winemaking tradition, can make. Wine Folly:  pg 89 German Riesling - Made a good choice by picking a German Riesling considering they are known for the world's best Riesling ranging in style from dry to sweet. Also mentions pairs very well with spicy food.  My Review:  Really enjoyed it! Very light and sweet with hints of apple flavor. It's really strong at the start but wears off pretty quickly. I tasted it on its own without food but would try it again paired with somethin...

Wine and Chesse

Image
The wines I chose for this Wine and Chesse pairing consisted of a 2019 Piemonte Rosso from Piedmont, Italy. The second wine was a 2019 Apothic Caberent Sauviongn. Lastly I had a Matthew Fox Chardonnay from California.      The chesses I chose were some of the most regular chesses you could find on the market.  I am not a big fan of chesse so I stuck to what I knew. I picked out Sharp Cheddar, Swiss chesse and Mozzarella.  Moving into the tastings and how well they paired, I will start with the Chardonnay. By itself, I was expected a light wine but it was actually very bold, and dry wine. With the chesses it wasn't bad at all. The Mozzarella was probably my favorite out of the three pairings as it brought out the buttery, oaky taste of the wine. The sharp cheddar was my least favorite as it overpowered the wine. Next, the Cabernet Sauvignon by itself had hints of dark chocolate and coffee. I really liked it when paired with the swiss cheese sliced very thin. It a...

Winery Visit

Winery Visit - Cenita Vineyard  During Spring Break, my and my friends visited Cenita Vineyard located in Atlanta, GA.  When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was the loveliest dog greeting us with his tail wagging. He escorted us into the tasting room. On a large plot of ground where their winery is located, there is a tiny tasting room. We took a seat at the counter in the tasting area and went over how to taste wine. They provide a large selection of both dry and sweet wines. Their dry reds were really smooth and did not have a harsh aftertaste, which I appreciated as a dry red consumer. They provide daily wine tastings and even frozen wine alternatives.   The property itself boasts stunning views and is an ideal location for a wedding or picture session. It's a terrific way to get away from the city for a few hours. We sat outdoors and took in the view of the vineyard because the weather was wonderful.

Wine Dinner Blog #2

Dinner   As an appetizer I had some left over wings from bdubs. My main course was rice and broccoli with some homemade grilled chicken. To top things off I had a fruity dessert that consisted of strawberries, blueberries, bananas, oats, and yogurt.  Wine 1: Clos du BOIS Pinot Noir Variety: Pinot Noir Region: California Country: United States Year: 2019 Price: $11.99 Label description:  Ruby red in color, this Pinot Noir displays aromas of black cherry with hints of dried violets and sage . In the mouth, rich flavors of black cherry and cranberry are balanced with a light toasty oak. My review of this wine on its own:  Really bold in color. Dry and on the acidic side. Had a lot of earthy, oaky flavors as well as a tinge of chocolate. Wine 2: Martini&Rossi Asti Sparking Wine Variety: Sparkling Wine Region: Pediment Country: Italy Year: Not provided Price: $12.99 Label description:  Martini & Rossi Asti is  a fruity sparkling wine made from ...
